Background, Ethos & Ethics
The Gatecorp Group was created, to help bridge the gap between strategic advisory services and actual, on-the-ground engagement to facilitate deals and agreements in complex or dynamic contexts.
Our founders and auxiliaries developed distinct skills over the course of two decades providing discrete advice and technical backstopping on deals or agreements with businesses as well as governments and civil society organizations. Our people have navigated intractable situations and capitalized on opportunities that extend from the grassroots to policymaking and trading circles. The Gatecorp Group builds on this combined experience, which encompasses 60+ countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and North America. That experience has shown us how too many deals or agreements fall through when insufficient attention is dedicated to the underlying sociopolitical realities. So, we're doing something about it by deploying our skill set to facilitate deals and agreements in complex contexts.
In April 2020, the Gatecorp Group started focusing its engagements on a combination of strategic advisory and facilitation services. Since then, we’ve built a resourceful team and a highly connected brain trust committed to helping global actors navigate local political economy realities to advantage.
Our work is guided by three considerations.
First, responsibly effective engagement between governments, businesses and civil society is indispensable for promoting the socioeconomic conditions in which businesses and society can thrive.
Second, in situations where lobbying practices and safeguards are impractical or unstructured, options for legitimately influencing political decision-making should be readily accessible to more actors.
Third, it is important that the space for lobbying and political influence is not ceded to some actors only. Increasing complexities underpinning international trade and geopolitics necessitate a commensurate increase in appriopriate facilitation services.
